Important milestones in the implementation of remote or smart meters in company Maribor Water Supply

At the end of 2016 company Mariborski vodovod reached the number of 30.000 installed remote meters, which represents 66% of all installed water meters.

At the end of 2016 company Mariborski vodovod reached the number of 30.000 installed remote meters, which represents 66% of all installed water meters. For the first time more than 25.000 meters were read in one month, and for the first time more than 50% of all water bills were charged based on actual consumption. These are important milestones, which show that the introduction of remote water meters gives excellent results. In December 2014, 15% of all accounts were charged according to actual consumption, in December 2015 28% and in December 2016 already 55%. A key objective of the project is monthly account of all meters according to actual consumption. The company is approaching it and plans to reach the goal in two years. At the end of 2017 company plans to charge 70% of all accounts according to actual consumption. In comparison with conventional meters, smart meter have numerous advantages. They are extremely precise, it is possible to read the meters without access to the facility, have the possibility of alarm detection (abnormal consumption, leakage, etc.). As a result, maintenance and management of the water supply network is of significantly better quality.
